AutoCAD is used in architecture, electrical, mechanical, civil engineering, manufacturing, and computer-aided design and drafting among others. It has a high market share for such products. For the decade spanning 1995 to 2005, the number of active AutoCAD users doubled every year.

A few common features of AutoCAD include the ability to analyze structural or mechanical systems to find potential issues such as incorrect stresses or buckling problems, to define surfaces such as floor, ceiling, walls, and columns, to specify the dimensions, dimensions, cut lists, material selections, and quantity of parts for various jobs, to visualize three-dimensional (3D) shapes such as furniture, electrical equipment, or machinery, to trace through surfaces such as walls, floors, and furniture to detect problems such as sloping, buckling, cracking, and flawed framing, to work with 2D and 3D drawings, and to import and edit files from other applications such as word processing or PDF files.
The AutoCAD application can create 2D and 3D shapes using 2D drawing tools and with specific features of 3D modeling tools. Two-dimensional and 3D tools are found on the same toolbar. Once the user has drawn a part or drawing on the screen, the parts of the drawing are represented by shapes. Drawing shapes can be modified to change the size of a shape, to remove parts, and to combine parts to form a new shape. When several different parts are combined in sequence, the user can work on the overall shape in a drawing, keeping the underlying parts of the shapes separate.
As of version 2016, the Newell-Simon and Newell-Tobias capabilities have been integrated into 2D and 3D drawing to enable users to use dimensions of various parts, rather than having to search and measure each part individually.
The AutoCAD drawing can contain several parts and any number of layers. Each layer contains a separate set of objects or views, which are elements of a drawing. The layers may represent different parts of a drawing, such as a floor plan, a wall plan, or furniture. Drawings may include sections, details, objects, text, dimensions, and notes.

AutoCAD is capable of performing some simple 3D modeling operations. It allows users to create a 3D drawing by extruding a 2D drawing, using one or more faces. AutoCAD has a large number of constraints such as rotational, translational, and elastic. Users can convert 3D objects into 4D objects by using parameters. They can then be edited using command line operations. In addition, 3D objects can be created using blocks. They can also be exported as DWG or SVG files. AutoCAD can use the IES standard to import and export 3D models. 3D models can be automatically converted to 2D using AutoCAD 3D.

Preparation for installation
Download the AutoCAD® software by clicking on the link below.
After you complete downloading the software, it is recommended to close the browser and re-open it to clear the download location.
Download the Release Notes, which contains installation instructions.
To begin installation, double-click the file named AutoCAD_2023_RT.exe and follow the installation instructions. When the installation begins, the program will ask you to specify where to install the software. Select the drive where you want to install the software on, and then press Enter.
After installation, you will see a message which tells you that the installation completed successfully.
