Does Facebook App Scribe Encryption use keyless encryption like AES-GCM?

The question title says all, but I’d like to ask this a bit more specifically. Facebook’s App Scribe seems to be a hybrid encryption system which offers a clear text option.
It seems to be using a combination of GCM and CBC-AES which would allow one to encrypt a message and then decrypt it using a receiver’s (and Facebook’s) public key.
But what if one chooses to use clear text to encrypt, without any sort of authentication, and then sends the unencrypted, encrypted message to someone?

There are two reasons why this won’t work.
First, clear text means the message isn’t encrypted at all. As an example, imagine the message was

If you sent that to someone without encrypting it, they wouldn’t get the message. Instead, they’d get
Hello

If someone encrypted that message using GCM, they’d get something like
g=rG+rA=gA&1=v

or something like that. If you tried to decrypt it, you’d get
