Heywood’s (1956, 1966, 1968) analyses of the effects of non-stationary loads on the magnitude of torque, isothermal efficiency, maximum net power and heating rate are as follows: Non-stationary loads have little effect on torque, but because of the torque reaction, non-stationary loads increase the maximum net power and heating rate up to 2 percent. In contrast, although they have little effect on efficiency, non-stationary loads reduce maximum power output and are responsible for the lost heating-up efficiency. The increase in maximum net power and rate of heating caused by non-stationary loads is largely offset by a fall in the amount of air delivered to combustion. The net result, apart from a considerable increase in consumption, is an almost unchanged average rate of increase of power and average value of rate of increase of power.

A study of non-stationary loads on diesel engine performance is shown in chapter 3. This chapter presents the main equations from Heywood’s analyses. Experimental results also are shown in this chapter. For many purposes the results of the calculation may be an adequate approximation of engine performance. For some applications, however, it may be necessary to account for other effects. Heywood showed that some effects of non-stationary loads, as expected, were to increase the heating rate and to decrease the maximum rate of increase of power. Chapter 4 is a general discussion of finite-time analysis. This chapter includes the analysis of Heywood’s (1956, 1968) equations for net power and heating rate when the cylinders are actuated at different times, in addition to the general discussion of finite-time analysis. In chapter 5, limits of validity are discussed.

Heywood’s (1956, 1966) analysis of the effects of torque-saturation point on net power, efficiency and rate of heating is as follows: Torque-saturation point changes the internal resistance and affects the distribution of power across combustion.Torque-saturation point primarily affects the fall in efficiency. It decreases the

That is NOT the case with Electric Cars.Neuroendocrine regulation of pulsatile luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone release in heifers chronically treated with bromocriptine.
Neuroendocrine function regulating pulsatile luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) was studied in heifers receiving bromocriptine or a vehicle control. Bromocriptine was administered SC for 6 months to heifers at doses of 10, 30, or 100 micrograms/kg BW daily. Blood samples for LH and FSH were collected every 15 min by venipuncture every week from the first week and every 2 weeks thereafter. A single dose of 0.5 g of cloprostenol was administered to each heifer via the jugular vein 48 h before blood collection. A subset of heifers was then treated with 10, 30, or 100 micrograms of bromocriptine/kg BW daily for 7 weeks starting in the middle of the experiment. During the final week of treatment, cloprostenol was administered at the same time as the bromocriptine dose. Bromocriptine treatment increased (P less than.05) LH pulse frequency from 0.87 +/- 0.04 to 0.95 +/- 0.04 pulses/h in heifers treated at 10 micrograms bromocriptine/kg BW daily, increased (P less than.05) to 1.51 +/- 0.12 pulses/h in heifers treated at 30 microgram
