With KoordTrans3D you may also apply iterative 3D-Coordinates transformations like order and invert a rotation or apply a parallel transformation, including scaling, twisting and rotating. If you need to inverse-transform a transformation, enter the KoordTrans3D starting coordinates, choose a new transformation-function and select the desired result-parameter. The result is right-estimated by a least-square-adjustment.

There are several software applications that perform the same task. However, these are very old or are freeware. I’ve been looking for a replacement for one of them, “MyFirstTrans” from my university.
Other free tools are “NeeAlpha”, “AlphaTrans” and “AlphaMorph”. “AlphaMorph” is a quite similar program and it hasn’t been updated for a while. NeeAlpha and AlphaTrans are not really good for complex transformation operations because there is no automatic estimation of the least-square-adjustment.
My first choice was MyFirstTrans but it is a very old program which can’t be updated and also it can be found only for Unix platforms, I’m not sure if they update it for Windows.

This Java program was designed for processing 3D-Coordinates.
It computes the transformation between two geometrical planes, i.e. a 2D plane with points (x1,y1,z1) and a 3D plane with points (x2,y2,z2).
To estimate the most likely transformation it computes the best fit: Translation, Scale, Rotation, Affine transformation and HELMERT transformation from a least-square-adjustment.
The best fit estimates are available as an output file.
There are a lot of tools available to understand the error between the data and the best fit transformation.
For example: you can create an overlay in a 2D plane and compare the overlay and the best fit.
You can also evaluate the best fit by printing the changes between the previous best fit and the new one.
You can also estimate the forward and backward transformation of a one point or a line with this program.
The webstart program is the same than the stand alone version except that the standalone version has no dependencies.
Moreover, the standalone version allows to specify the transformation between the planes, the direction of the resulting plane and a spacing ratio.
The webstart program will not update the last transformation automatically if you have modified the transformations between the planes.

Transformation estimation
This Java program estimates the best fit in the parameter subspace of translation, rotation and scale.
The estimation is based on the least square-adjustment.
It is similar to the OpenGL command gluProject.
Translation:
2D-Plane is rotated around its normal before the transformation is estimated.
Rotation is computed from the two line segments measured between two points in one plane of the transformed 2D-Plane.
