Project: Gorgon is a fantasy MMORPG that has already amassed a small playerbase, even though it has yet to leave early access. If you want to keep an eye on the in-game chat even when you aren’t playing, this program may interest you.
PgMessenger is a small utility that grabs the in-game chat from log files and enables you to read it at any time, from any PC. It even gives you the option of viewing your guild’s chat.
How the program works
The Project: Gorgon game client can save the chat to log files, which can then be uploaded by players to a dedicated server. All users running this application will receive updates from the server, but a few players need to be online across all time zones to ensure the chat is always available.
The three common channels are all captured, namely Global, Trade and Help. A few additional steps are required to view guild chat, as security must be taken into consideration.
Simple chat viewer for Project: Gorgon
Once everything has been set up, you will be able to view the in-game chat in the main window, which can be resized freely. Additionally, it is possible to increase or decrease the text’s dimensions.
What’s more, you have the option if hiding any of the main channels, as well as preventing spoilers from being displayed.
Password-protected guild chat
In order to view the guild chat, you need to enter the name of your character and guild, as well as a password that is only shared between guild members. These additional steps are required in order to prevent other users from reading the private guild chat.
In short, PgMessenger is a useful tool for Project: Gorgon players who wish to keep an eye on what’s being said in chat even when they are not in the game. The fact that the data is grabbed from chat files is certainly a downside, but an official game chat API may be available in the future.

This utility comes in the form of a simple chat viewer that grabs the in-game chat from log files. The program can be made to work without an internet connection, which is a huge bonus for those wishing to read chat while away from their computer.

PgMessenger is a small utility that grabs the in-game chat from log files and enables you to read it at any time, from any PC. It even gives you the option of viewing your guild’s chat.
Although the program has only been around for a few months, it is already growing in popularity. Over the course of the past year, the number of users has risen to around 500, with an even larger number of downloads for the most recent updates, all of which have come within the last few weeks.
In order to get a proper look at the program, we decided to put it through some tests. We’ll start off by running the program for a couple of days to see how everything works, and then move onto looking at the hidden features.
PgMessenger Test Results
The first thing to come to mind when seeing PgMessenger is how perfectly it works. We fired up the program, logged in with a character, and saw the chat being read to us in a timely manner.
In fact, we were able to chat for more than 12 hours before the chat files were downloaded, and those files were downloaded and moved over to our computer almost instantaneously. They take up no more than a couple of megabytes, and we can open a new chat session at any time.
The screenshot below shows the chat window from 7:30 PM to 8:15 PM, and there were plenty of conversations. Those that we highlighted are guild chat, as well as random chat.
A few things that we noticed while using PgMessenger:
The program works perfectly fine in both Firefox and Chrome.
The chat window displays the chat from all three channels, as well as the guild, just like the screenshot below.
As mentioned, the program is able to grab the chat from logs in real time. PgMessenger is a useful tool for Project: Gorgon players who wish to read the chat even when they are not in the game.
The chat window opens immediately after we log in to the game, which means that even if you are offline, you can still check what is being said in chat.
The log files are kept private, meaning that only those who have access to the chat folders will see them.
With that in mind, we decided to move on to the more “deeper” sections of the program.
PgMessenger’s more hidden features
Normally,
The Project: Gorgon MMORPG has an in-game chat that is rarely used, as the audio and voice chat is by far more useful than text. This is where PgMessenger comes in, as it allows you to read this chat any time, from any PC.
PgMessenger is a small utility that monitors the chat log files saved by the game client and uploads them to a dedicated server. It also provides you with the option to view your guild’s chat, which will require you to enter a password before being able to see it.
If you know the name of your character and your guild, as well as a password that’s shared between members, you can view the in-game chat using PgMessenger. It can be run from any PC and, as data is grabbed directly from the client’s game files, it is constantly updated. However, you need to be online across all time zones, which is currently the largest inconvenience.
Besides viewing the Project: Gorgon chat log files, PgMessenger also allows you to hide any channel you don’t want to see. All three chat channels are captured by PgMessenger, including Global, Trade and Help. An optional password is required to view guild chat.
These additional steps are required in order to prevent other players from reading the private chat of the guild.
Why we like it
PgMessenger is a simple utility for Project: Gorgon players who wish to read the game chat on any PC, any time. It monitors the chat file on a dedicated server and uploads the chat logs to the server.
This small program may be useful to players who don’t want to use the much more useful audio and voice chat options available in the game client. It is a solid program, but if you’re looking for a simple and reliable chat viewer, PgMessenger may be just what you’re looking for.
