Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.
AutoCAD is licensed for use on up to five computers at once and is compatible with Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux, while also compatible with iPads, Android tablets, and most smart phones. AutoCAD 2018 is available as a single-user license for a single computer, as a multi-user license that allows for five computers to use the software simultaneously, and as a multi-user network license that allows for up to 200 AutoCAD users on an intranet or the Internet. All AutoCAD subscribers can have a single company subscription with pricing for up to 200 users. For more information on AutoCAD licensing and pricing, please visit the AutoCAD Web site.
AutoCAD 2019 started shipping to AutoCAD subscriber companies on October 15, 2018.
By using AutoCAD as part of a real estate planning, construction, or architectural project, users can create drawing files that can be shared and viewed with others, much like a PowerPoint presentation. AutoCAD is compatible with Windows-based operating systems such as Windows 7 and Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows 10 Mobile and Mac OS X-based operating systems such as OS X and OS X Mavericks, OS X Yosemite, and OS X El Capitan.
AutoCAD is compatible with the common extensions to AutoCAD software such as DWG (drawing) files, DGN (2D maps) files, DXF (2D and 3D drawing formats) files, IGES (3D model files), ICON (2D and 3D drawings in picture format), and TEC (2D and 3D technical drawings).
AutoCAD is compatible with the following network protocols: IP-over-PPP, IP-over-Ethernet, IP-over-Fibre Channel, IP-over-T1, IP-over-SONET, IP-over-SONET-OC-192, IP-over-PON, IP-over-Fiber-Channel, IP-over-SDH, IP-over-WDM, IP-over-IP, and IP-over-HDLC.
Overview [ edit ]
AutoCAD is the only commercial drafting software that is in the public domain and can be licensed for free. However, most competitors charge a license fee or require a payment per user or per computer. AutoCAD is available as a desktop app and as a web app. Auto
Applications also include a vector graphics editor with some basic editing tools (no text, only line and curve/shape).
To make changes to AutoCAD drawings, a C++ program has to be written. Since AutoCAD-specific programming does not allow for true object-oriented programming, developers write type libraries that contain the “properties and methods” for the specific AutoCAD classes. When creating an application that uses AutoCAD, a developer builds an entire application by combining these type libraries with their own code.
Application programming interface
The AutoCAD application programming interface (API) is implemented in C++. The API allows drawing commands to be accessed, and functionality to be provided to AutoCAD.
To produce an AutoCAD drawing, a developer provides definitions of a new drawing template, which will be exported to the format specified in the drawing template. The developer can then edit this template to produce a new drawing.
New classes and features can be added to the drawing template using the programming interface. All the classes and functions which are used in the drawing are defined in C++ source files; for example, in the base drawing class, there is a drawLine function which is called when an object in the drawing is to be displayed, which is called from another class.
AutoCAD application programming interfaces
AutoCAD has a number of application programming interfaces (APIs) for drawing, utilities, and more. AutoCAD’s APIs are implemented in C++. This allows the development of AutoCAD-compatible applications.
Addins – A series of AutoCAD addins are available from Autodesk. These are AutoCAD programs that support multiple operating systems and hardware platforms.
Application programming interface (API) – A set of application programming interface libraries which enable C++ developers to create application software that allows them to access the functions and objects of AutoCAD. These are the key tools that allow the creation of AutoCAD add-ons and other development tools.
Applications – These are a set of various applications that are included with the version of AutoCAD. These are released to the public and can be used on multiple operating systems. Some of the applications include drawing, 3D, database

The Libertines reunited to perform a free concert in the U.S. in December 2018.
The Welsh indie icons are back together, releasing their first album in 14 years.
The Libertines announced the release of their 10th anniversary album, Up the Bracket, on Tuesday (August 20), and tickets for the gig at New York’s Terminal 5 went on sale on Friday (August 23).

The Libertines are made up of singer/guitarist Pete Doherty, bassist Carl Barat and drummer John Hassall.
After they broke up in 2004, Doherty went on to form Babyshambles, and he’s also fronted other bands including The Libertines, The Libertines Plus One and Babyshambles.
Barat then joined Foals, while Hassall teamed up with composer Thurston Moore to form the band.

The Libertines were last together for a decade before announcing their reunion in January 2018.
Frontman Doherty said: “Since our last show in Wales in 2004, things have been going well for me, life has been great. We’ve been doing a bit of work and we’ve been happy.
“We’ve been doing a lot of shows together recently and we got on really well, it’s good to see John and Carl back and as Pete said, the three of us getting back together again.
“I’m glad to say we’re going to play again, it’s great to see how people have embraced the idea.”
Doherty added that their performances are unlikely to be their last.
“I think it’s going to be an ongoing thing, there’s no point us making a record, we can always play again, I don’t see that being the end of anything,” he said.
