After the introduction of AutoCAD, major changes were introduced by Autodesk, including a transition to a model-centric approach and an object-oriented programming language called AutoLISP, which had been introduced in 1982.

AutoCAD history

AutoCAD was originally developed in the late 1970s by William H. Miller. In 1981, Kees van den Doel joined Autodesk as an AutoLISP programmer. He and Miller began to work on version 2.0. Van den Doel is widely credited for the programming of the landmark AutoLISP language and the introduction of an object-oriented model and programming style in the software.

The first AutoCAD was a split-screen program that could simultaneously display two views (the application’s workspace and the drawing area). Later, with the introduction of version 2.0 in 1983, the split-screen concept was abandoned and the application’s workspace was limited to a 640-by-480-pixel (approximately 16.67-by-9.84-inch) rectangle on the computer monitor. This concept, known as large-screen CAD, proved popular with CAD users. The software was rebranded as AutoCAD in 1985.

In 1987, the user interface was completely redesigned to resemble a professional drafting room. Two windows with two views opened, each with a display of the currently selected drawing view, the user-specified model window, and toolbars and palettes for commands, menus, and view options. The default two-window setting was extended to additional windows in subsequent releases.


AutoCAD was first released in December 1982 as a program that could be used on a desktop computer with an internal graphics card and no operating system. To use the program, users needed a custom graphics board designed and manufactured by BCS. The first computers that could run the application were the BCS TX-7890 (one of the world’s first microcomputers), the BCS TX-790, and the BCS TX-890. Both were microprocessor-based, and the TX-890 could process 2.5 million points per second. Later versions of the application could be installed directly on a hard disk drive, and users would not need a special graphics board.

The first version of AutoCAD used the model-centric approach. Only the model was visible at a time, and the user could change the view to either a 2D or 3D view.

As of March 31, 2012, Autodesk Exchange Apps was merged with the Autodesk App Center (formerly known as the Autodesk App Center for AppExchange), giving AutoCAD an app store similar to Apple’s App Store and Android Market. The combined app store is called Autodesk App Store.

Older Autodesk Exchange Apps (not developed by Autodesk) could be reinstalled from the Autodesk Exchange Apps website.

AutoCAD has multiple add-on products including:
AddOns: Allows customization of AutoCAD by third-party developers.
AutoCAD Plugins: Third-party plug-ins to AutoCAD developed by AutoCAD third-party developers, and supported by Autodesk.

1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a semiconductor device having a metal wiring structure and a method of manufacturing the same, and more particularly to a semiconductor device having a copper wiring structure and a method of manufacturing the same.
2. Description of the Related Art
The wiring resistance of a metal wiring in a semiconductor device has been becoming higher as the metal wiring width is becoming smaller. In recent years, a metal wiring structure using copper, instead of aluminum, has been proposed for lower wiring resistance. It is generally said that the lower wiring resistance and a lower thermal stress are attributed to the copper wiring.
However, copper is prone to oxidize, and the metal wiring having the copper wiring is readily corroded by the oxidation. Therefore, the conventional method of forming a metal wiring made of aluminum had a high yield rate in a semiconductor device having aluminum wiring. This is because the above-mentioned corroding of the metal wiring is more likely to occur in the case of copper wiring.
To solve the above-mentioned problem, a semiconductor device having copper wiring structure is proposed in Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication No. 5-123891. As shown in FIG. 2, the proposed device has a copper wiring 120 formed on an interlayer insulating film 110 formed on a silicon substrate 10. In FIG. 2, the copper wiring 120 is covered with an anti-corrosive insulating film 130. The copper wiring 120 is formed by forming a barrier layer made of tantalum nitride and an underlayer made of copper on the interlayer insulating film 110.
