Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.

C++, VC++
AutoCAD’s native API is written in C++ and is available in several dialects. The ObjectARX class library is the base for all three of these dialects. AutoCAD supports the Visual C++ compiler as well as the Microsoft Visual C# compiler.
AutoCAD is also cross-platform and can be used on Windows, Mac and Unix. The differences in the API’s are based on what platforms AutoCAD is built on.
AutoCAD 2010 and AutoCAD LT 2010 have native APIs based on Microsoft Visual Studio.NET 2005 and 2003 respectively.
ObjectARX
ObjectARX is an application programming interface (API) for AutoCAD. It is part of the ObjectARX framework.
Introduction
AutoCAD’s native API is written in C++.
ObjectARX is a C++ class library that is part of AutoCAD. The ObjectARX API is based on the ObjectARX framework.
ObjectARX’s goal is to give developers the ability to write applications for AutoCAD using the C++ and Visual Studio.NET programming languages.
ObjectARX is compatible with the Visual C++ and Microsoft Visual C# compilers. It provides an alternative to the AutoCAD.NET API and the AutoCAD.NET API with the Visual Studio.NET API. ObjectARX supports the large volume of legacy applications that were written for the.NET API and the AutoCAD.NET API.
AutoCAD support for Visual Studio.NET and Visual C#
AutoCAD 2010 and AutoCAD LT 2010 add support for the Visual Studio.NET 2005 and 2003 compilers. Visual Studio.NET 2005 and Visual Studio.NET 2003 are the previous versions of the Visual Studio.NET API and VBA based API. AutoCAD supports the older version of the Visual Studio.NET API because AutoCAD supports the Visual Studio.NET 2003 SDK. However, AutoCAD does not support the Visual Studio.NET 2008 SDK. Therefore, AutoCAD 2010 and AutoCAD LT 2010 do not support Visual Studio.NET 2008.
AutoCAD’s Visual Studio.NET API and Visual VBA are the primary APIs for applications to manipulate AutoCAD objects. Both of these APIs are based on the ObjectARX framework.

Q:
Is “can’t buy me love” a valid metaphor?
I read a sentence:
Remember I can’t buy you love but you can always sell yourself.
Is “can’t buy me love” a valid metaphor?
How do you use it correctly?
A:
This is what I’d expect to hear.
Remember I can’t buy you love, but you can always sell yourself.
I haven’t looked into the question too deeply, but I’d guess that the sentence you’ve read is actually:
Remember I can’t buy you love, but you can always sell yourself.
The first half of the sentence is
Remember I can’t buy you love
which is an obvious example of where you can’t use “but” to connect two sentences. So the second half of the sentence should be:
but you can always sell yourself
which also turns out to be wrong, because “but” is usually used to show “and”. It’s a non-standard way of saying “and” but it’s very common.
Q:
What would cause a single (static?) source static boost::asio::io_service object to run multiple times?
I’m building an UDP client that has to connect to and talk to several servers. To do this, I’m using Boost asio with the (default) setting for the io_service that everything gets scheduled into the same thread.
To that end, I want to run a single io_service::run() to start the client and the separate io_service::run()s for each of the servers. My problem is that while using a static io_service object in an std::vector, I sometimes see multiple instances of the io_service objects being created (with the same thread) and the server threads not being created (with the same thread) – this leads to me calling io_service::run() several times for the same client, and it appears that the client starts over each time.
I’ve tried wrapping the run in a run_once() and checked the “scheduling” setting to see if I’m going to be stuck with a single thread for the whole application, but I’m not sure that the application will be called from a single thread even after I check that.
Do I have to make some other setting to ensure that each io_service gets its own thread?
A new Autodesk product, Markup Assist, automatically converts drawings to editing-ready PDFs. Thanks to AI, it can automatically identify and markup professional-level engineering drawings in a matter of minutes. (video: 1:30 min.)
Easily identify any change in your drawing that impacts your existing or future rendering by using the new Markup Assist Preview feature. It will flag any drawing changes that can affect rendering.
The new Markup Import feature sends the drawing’s original rendering data to your eDrawings account for editing and rendering purposes. Now you can automatically import revision data into your eDrawings account from your computer files and receive new views of your work. (video: 2:00 min.)
Automatically send feedback through eMail to colleagues who are working on the same drawing. With Markup Assist, you can quickly send feedback or changes to your colleagues through eMail.
Take advantage of the new Autodesk eServices in AutoCAD 2023.
Import your design files to Autodesk eServices and incorporate feedback and changes in real time. Get instant access to all your projects and colleagues with Autodesk eServices—Autodesk’s online collaborative design platform.
eServices in AutoCAD 2023:
Compress and analyze your drawings for reuse or sharing. You can use free, public cloud storage to compress and share your design data. It can make a difference in your design team’s workflow.
Use eServices to upload and share files, create pages for printing, export or sharing to Word or PowerPoint documents, and access project data in your desktop or online.
Benefits of eServices:
Save time. When you have shared your project files with a colleague or used eServices to upload and share a PDF or other file, your project will be ready for reuse or sharing.
Save money. eServices saves time in the design process by allowing you to compress and share your design data. It also enables you to take advantage of AutoCAD’s file compression, the option to save files to cloud storage, and sharing your project files with your colleagues and clients.
Accelerate your design process. eServices makes it possible to make changes and comments to a drawing while it’s still under your control.
Make better design decisions. Send comments to colleagues or track changes to the drawing that affects your design. E-mails and
