    iPhone/iPad application prefers portrait mode, app launch takes a few seconds

    Whenever I launch my iPhone/iPad application, it launches in portrait mode and immediately rotates into landscape mode when it’s done launching and the user then has to navigate in landscape mode and rotate back into portrait mode for the screen to be usable. The app is primarily designed to support landscape mode use, so if I can limit the portrait mode to the beginning of the app launch, then it’ll do the right thing on launch and rotation, and remain in landscape mode for the rest of the app, eliminating the extra user action.
    Is there some way to easily set the application launch mode so that it always launches in landscape mode when the app is started up? Perhaps I need to go the NSUserDefaults route, or perhaps I need to intercept the
